Orange clutch with 70s twist

VL

It seems like a long time ago now since I mentioned beginning this bag in my ‘Things that are orange’ post. It’s been one of those put-it-down pick-it-up projects, partly because I completely unravelled it and started it again.

Once I’d finished the crochet part it just seemed to want to have a 1970s vibe. Its orange, who am I to argue? So, what’s more 70′s than ric rac and a chunky button? I’ve also lined it with genuine 1970′s fabric, man-made (polyseter I think) and difficult to add as a lining, but you live and learn.

Front of orange crochet clutch bagAlthough the lining was a bit tricky to add (it’s shiny and slippery and stubbornly will not be pressed) I absolutely love the gaudy (in a nice way) little flowers on chocolate background.

This highlights something that I’ve yet to get to grips with – what types of fabric suit which jobs. Once I know more I’ll post more but in the meantime I’ve added some links to the resources section about fabric types.

I think it looks fab – sometimes the most exciting things are when you use something you aren’t supposed to use – makes for interesting results. And it looks fab so I wouldn’t worry too much hon xx

You do indeed see ric rac Sue :)

Thank you Claire – I love that fabric so persevered with it even though it was a pain to put in. It’s just about learning what is best to use for what I guess x

That’s real cute! In a 70s kind of way. Where did the time go?
